The aim of the BHPFC is to encourage the building and flying of Human Powered Aeroplanes (HPAs) mainly in Britain but also around the world mainly for sport.

The BHPFC is very pleased to announce that Derek Piggott as the first person in the world to take off and fly a human powered aircraft has been made president. See Derek’s Wikipedia entry for more information on him
After building and flying Betterfly for a number of years, David Barford thinks it is time for Betterfly to have a new owner. See here for more details.
Sywell 15th to 24th July were the dates for last year’s BHPFC competition.
News has arrived of DaSH’s first flight in the USA on the 5th December. See here for a video and photos and a video here.

Betterfly will be appearing at Old Warden on the Sunday, 1st October.
There will be a lecture by Samuel Penny called “I Believe I Can Fly” on Thursday, 14th September 2017 and will start at 18:15pm at the British Airways Waterside Theatre, BA Head Office, Speedbird Way, Harmondsworth, UB7 0GA.You need to preregister at http://tiny.cc/RAeSLHR
The intention is to hold next year’s (2018) BHPFC competition between the 14th and 22nd of July. This may change by a week so keep checking this site for updates to dates and location. Meanwhile build your HPA to enter.
This year’s (2017) BHPFC competition was at Lasham between the 15th and 23rd of July. In the end only 3 planes were entered but as they all achieved flight they all won a prize.
A new record was set at Sywell 2016 when Charlotte Barford became the first British female to fly a human powered aircraft. See here for a video.
